If last week’s refurbishing of our weekly shucks wasn’t indication enough, we’ve been feeling happy happy lately. Something about a warm summer day that necessitates cold freshly shucked oysters, and whole lot of them. Although we do favor an occasional splurge on the cream of the crop with our dear friends at Aquagrill, we cant help but waste away some good summer hours with an overflowing abundance of happy hour oysters. After all, that is how this blog got started, one Fall afternoon at The Mermaid Oyster Bar.
Having explored most of the go to spots on the little island of Manhattan, we decided to see what the East End had to offer. And so this past Sunday, on what happened to be National Oysters Day, we headed over to Andrra, a beautiful restaurant overlooking a marina on Three Mile Harbor.
Having enjoyed several picturesque dinners here over the summer, we’ve yet to take advantage of their rare East Hampton deal. Everday from 3-6pm, the oysters are $1, the clams 50 cents, and the domestic and rose wines $5. Oh and the million dollar view, free.
The restaurant is broken down into three parts-a lounge, a bar area, and the dining room. All of them are connected and all of them offer a beautiful view of the water. Even though the happy hour is available throughout the entire restaurant, we opted for a high top table in the bar area, allowing for a slightly elevated view. A few glasses of rose, a dozen and a half Blue Points, and a dozen Clams, we were very happy yet again. The oysters were plump and delicious, the clams sweet, and the rose refreshing. What better way to celebrate our favorite bivalve, and watch the sun set on another wonderful weekend in The Hamptons.
