As the weather peaked to an unseasonable 82 degrees on this passed mid October Monday in New York City, we took to our favorite activity of oysters and wine al fresco. Rather than questioning the odd temperature outside, we decided to embrace it with happy hour oysters and a scenic view at P.J. Clarke’s on the Hudson.
Definitely no newbies to the classic item on the menu, we bypassed the burger this time, opting for a full on oyster indulgence instead. Unlike the Midtown location, the variety at this one does not exceed two, one from the East and one from the West. But nonetheless, with the start of the East Coast season in full swing, the Blue Point oysters at a $1 each did not disappoint. All 24 were plump, meaty and refreshing. A perfect two dozen to go with our delightful Sauvignon Blanc.
As we slurped away, the air just like our oysters had that fall crisp feeling about it. But rather than a stool at a favorite oyster bar, we fully enjoyed the beautiful yachts docked nearby.
